Ferguson the latest to leave Wakefield

Wakefield’s administrators have continued their sale of the club’s assets with second-rower Dale Ferguson joining Huddersfield Giants.

Wildcats coach John Kear could be faced with a paper thin squad by the weekend, as the club’s prospective new owners Spirit of 1873 Ltd continue working towards completing a deal to buy the troubled Yorkshire club.

Following the departure of star half-back Sam Obst to Hull yesterday, 22-year-old Ferguson has also left Belle Vue to link up with Nathan Brown’s side, who opened the new Super League campaign with a win over Warrington at the weekend.

A Wakefield club statement read: “The Company wants all our loyal fans to understand that this transaction has taken place before we have been able to sign-off on our ownership of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and that the Company is not a party to Dale’s sale.

“While we are sad to see Dale leave Wakefield we’re proud of the service that he’s given to the Club and wish him well.”

However, Ferguson may not be the last player to leave Belle Vue, with rumours circulating that centre Daryl Millard could move to Catalans.
