Dragons Chase deal close as Soward moves on
Rangi Chase‘s move to St George Illawarra is a step closer, after the Dragons confirmed Jamie Soward is leaving the club at the end of the season.
Soward, 28, has signed a four-year deal with Penrith Panthers, having spent seven seasons with the Dragons, winning the NRL, World Club Challenge and becoming the club’s all-time top points scorer.
It leaves a gap in the halves at St George, who are believed to have made an offer for the Castleford and England international stand-off.
Dragons chief executive Peter Doust said: “As has been speculated for some time, we are in a strong position regarding recruitment but we have never been interested in speculating.
“When we have a number of matters finalised, we will communicate appropriately.”
Chase appeared to wave farewell to Castleford fans following their 28-26 home win over Widnes on Saturday.
