Doncaster have signed hooker Ben Frankland from the Leeds Rhinos academy, with the 19-year-old inking a deal for 2016.

He is the Dons’ 26th signing for the coming campaign in League 1.

Doncaster head coach Gary Thornton believes that Frankland will add versatility as well as quality to his squad for next year.

“Ben has spent a number of years at the Leeds Rhinos Academy, but was released at the end of the season,” he told his club’s official website.

“He can play primarily at hooker, but at Leeds he has also played in the back-row and at loose forward, so Ben offers a great deal of flexibility.

“Ben is another player of good pedigree and hopefully we can help him reach his potential at Doncaster.

“He adds more strength and depth to the squad which is what I have been trying to create here and hopefully he can put pressure on Kyle Kesik and Daniel Hirst.”
