Dewsbury have given a new deal to Andy Gabriel as well as signing youngster Sam Moorhouse from Leeds.

Winger Gabriel, 25, has signed a new one-year deal with the Rams after scoring eight tries in 22 games this year.

Prop Moorhouse, 18, came through the academy at the Rhinos but has now signed a one-year contract with Dewsbury.

Rams coach Lee Greenwood said: “I thought Gabes proved he could play at this level last season after a slow start. He has things to work on like any player but I’m pleased to have him.

“He has plenty of pace and works really hard for the team. I believe he can kick on now he knows what the Championship is all about.

“Sam is one of a number of lads that have found themselves being too old for academy rugby now that the age range has gone down to Under-18s.

“He has been recommended to me by staff at Leeds and from what I have seen and heard, Sam could have a bright future in the game.”
