Daryl Powell targets seven wins from seven to end regular season

Castleford coach Daryl Powell has challenged his team to win all seven of their remaining Super League regular season matches.

A 36-16 derby win over Wakefield at the Mobile Rocket Stadium puts them level on points with fifth place Wigan in the race for the play-offs.

He said: “That was an absolute must-win game today, it was win at all costs for us.

“And I thought the players showed the attitude that we had to win. As a team defensively we were excellent.

“We’ve got seven games left, we should be aiming to win them all.

“It’s a tough challenge but we have to have that mindset. If we keep doing what we did today and against London, the attitude will carry us a really long way.”

Next up for Castleford is the visit of Warrington, who were beaten at home by Salford on Friday.

Then they have three games against sides deep in the relegation fight – Hull KR (A), London (H) and Huddersfield (A) – before they go to try and end St Helens’ unbeaten home run.

They round off the regular season with a home game against Hull and a trip to Wigan, which could yet prove pivotal in the final placings.
