Currie targets derby double

Warrington utility man Ben Currie wants to make sure his team’s supporters have the bragging rights after the derby with Widnes.

The game takes place on Friday evening at the Select Security Stadium, and Currie knows that it should be a tricky test.

“I don’t think they’ve been in the greatest form and getting wins recently, while we obviously have” said Currie.

“But going into game like that, all form’s out of the window, especially going to their place.

“Their fans can get behind them and make them a whole different team and I’m sure it will be a really tricky game to be in.”

As a Warrington lad, Currie knows how vital it is to get a win when local pride is at stake.

“Growing up, I’ve always watched the derby games,” he said.

“Watching both sets of fans when they’re speaking to each other, they’re always after bragging rights over each other in the pubs and that.

“Last year they did the double over us, and we’re looking to do the same to them this year.”
