Cunningham slams senior players

St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham says his senior players let his team down last night and bemoaned Saints’ poor finishing against Catalans.

The Dragons took St Helens apart on their home turf 30-12.

“We just looked really flat tonight,” Cunningham told Sky.

“We’re just not consistent enough. It’s just not good enough for this club.

“A lot of our senior players let us down today.

Cunningham described Saints’ finishing and decision-making in attack against the Dragons as shocking.

“We looked like a team that had never played together before,” he admitted.

“I’m not sure what the reason is behind that, we’ve just got to work harder and be better.

“We didn’t throw anything at them. We looked like an under-16s team almost, just running around and chucking the ball everywhere.”
