Cummings: Wigan need new hooter

Referee’s boss Stuart Cummings says Wigan need to buy a new hooter at the JJB Stadium.

It comes after Friday’s match against Hull KR which saw referee Richard Silverwood allow a Rovers try after the half time hooter. Wigan had led 6-0, but went on to lose 20-12.

Cummings said: “Richard didn’t hear the hooter, and this isn’t the first time this has happened at Wigan. They need a louder hooter.”

Silverwood’s decision sparked fury among the home supporters and coach Brian Noble said: “The try was clearly after the hooter.”

Former Wigan scrum half Michael Dobson scored the try and conversion which levelled the game, which Rovers won to move to the top of Super League.
