Clarification over James Mendeika’s registration

There has been some confusion surrounding young centre James Mendeika‘s loan move to London Broncos earlier this week.

Mendeika, 21, has moved south on a five-week loan in a deal announced by both Warrington and the Broncos.

However, Mendeika is actually on the move from Championship side Swinton, with whom he signed a one-year deal earlier this season, alongside five other ex-Wolves team-mates – Glenn Riley, Ryan Shaw, Gene Ormsby, Jordan Burke and Jack Morrison.

The RFL have confirmed that Mendeika is officially a Swinton player, now on loan to London.

The confusion stems from the partnership between Warrington and Swinton, which sees the Lions make use of the Wolves’ facilities, effectively meaning the six players have continued to train full-time with Warrington.

That confusion was further increased when Warrington announced that Mendeika, as their player, had made the move south, while London also announced in a press release that they had signed Mendeika from their Super League rivals; when in fact, he had been signed from Swinton.
