Chester benefitting from Kear’s Trinity presence

Wakefield coach Chris Chester believes that John Kear will add pedigree and experience to Trinity’s backroom team this season.

Kear was appointed as director of rugby at the club in the close season, and also has some coaching responsibilities, particularly when it comes to the team’s defence.

“It’s good to have somebody to pass ideas on,” Chester told Love Rugby League.

“He’s certainly been a calming influence on me already this year, in terms of little things, and in terms of discipline, and asking John his opinion on certain things.

“In terms of not rushing into certain things too – he’s been there and bought the T-shirt, so he’s been a great help to me.

“Both on and off the field, but more off the field, in the way that he approaches his work.”
