Halifax marched on at the top of of the Championship on Thursday with a comfortable 36-4 win at Doncaster. Tries came from Barker, Penkywicz, James, Tamghart, Paterson, Gleeson and Royston.

Saturday saw a shock at the Don Valley Stadium as Sheffield trounced Toulouse 58-12. The French side had been in remarkable form in recent weeks, but were blown away by the Eagles after a tight first quarter. Joe Walsh and Sam Barlow both scored two tries in a ten-try rout. Also on the scoresheet was the returning Danny Mills, who has returned to the club on loan from Widnes.

Widnes’ shook off their recent poor form to stage a remarkable comeback at home to Gateshead. After the Thunder raced into a 24-6 lead, the Vikings fought back to record a 46-30 win. On the scoresheet was debuting winger Kevin Penny, signed on a month-long loan deal from Warrington. Lee Doran also scored twice.

Barrow kept up the pressure on Halifax with a 44-12 win over fellow silverware-chasers Featherstone. James Nixon outstaged Ned Catic by scoring a respective four tries to three. Liam Campbell scored the other try for the Raiders.

Batley recorded a big win over Whitehaven at Mount Pleasant. Jermaine McGilvary scored a remarkable five tries in a 48-24 victory.

In the Championship One, York travelled to the capital to score 80 points to the Skolars’ 6. Danny Ratcliffe and Tom Hodgson scored three tries each for the Knights. 

Oldham won 44-26 at neighbours Swinton. Dave Allen and Andy Ballard both notched hat-tricks, as Ballard hauled 24 of the Roughyeds’ points. 

Keighley snatched a late victory at Blackpool, a late Dan Potter try giving the Cougars a 30-26 win.

Hunslet beat Rochdale 56-30. Aayden Faal scored three tries in a nine-try success.

Dewsbury beat Workington 76-14.
