Warrington Wolves posted a routine 22-6 win over Celtic Crusaders on Saturday evening at Brewery Field.

The Wolves led 6-0 at the half-time interval thanks to Jon Clarke and were the better team throughout the second period.

A late try from Luke Dyer ensured the Crusaders were not nilled for a second successive week.

The opening try came after just nine minutes, Clarke taking advantage of a loose ball to touch down, Chris Hicks adding the conversion.

The remainder of the half was scoreless, and it took until midway through the second for the Wolves to increase their lead, Ben Harrison the scorer and Hicks adding the extras.

Richie Mathers then put the game beyond the Crusaders’ grasp with a brace of tries, Hicks converting the former, for a 22-0 lead.

The closing minutes saw Dyer cross to finally give the Welsh supporters something to cheer.
