Castleford Tigers to make Channel 4 debut against Wigan

Castleford Tigers will make their Channel 4 debut against Wigan on Saturday, June 4. 

The game was originally scheduled for the day before, Friday June 3. However, it will now take place on the Saturday with a 2:00pm kick-off from the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

It will mark Castleford’s debut on the free-to-air channel.

The day marks an extraordinary day for Channel 4, who will also broadcast the England men’s football team for the very first time. They face Hungary in the UEFA Nations League. 

Super League on Channel 4

Channel 4 kick-started their coverage of the Super League during round one live from Headingley Stadium as Leeds hosted Warrington.

Wigan made their free-to-air debut most recently as they played hosts to Salford at the DW Stadium. Matt Peet’s side claimed a dramatic 30-24 victory thanks to a last minute effort from in-form full-back Jai Field.

The broadcasters aired Hull’s home tie with St Helens back in February during Round Two. Channel 4 also showed Wakefield’s first trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium in the Super League. They claimed a 38-22 victory on Saturday, March 19, before returning the week after in the Challenge Cup where they won again against Daryl Powell’s side.

Channel 4 have selected the Round 13 fixture of Hull KR playing Catalans Dragons (21 May, 12:30pm) as their next free-to-air broadcast. 

Super League Round 12 will feature three live games on Sky Sports with Huddersfield hosting Wigan Warriors (12 May, 8pm), St Helens versus Hull FC (13 May, 8pm) and Catalans against Warrington (14 May, 5pm).

Sky Sports will bring fans live action in Round 13 from Warrington Wolves v St Helens (19 May, 8pm) and Salford Red Devils v Castleford Tigers (20 May, 8pm).

The two men’s Challenge Cup semi-finals will be broadcast live on the BBC this Saturday. The Women’s Challenge Cup final will be live on BBC Two.
