Castleford hooker Paul McShane will serve a three-match suspension for a Grade D use of the forearm charge.

The incident occurred in the Tigers’ 21-20 defeat to Leeds Rhinos at Emerald Headingley last Thursday.

McShane pleaded guilty but challenged the grading of a Grade D use of forearm charge handed to him by the match review panel.

However, the challenge to the grading was unsuccessful and the tribunal found the grading at Grade D was correct and appropriate.

The Castleford hooker has received a three-match ban. The tribunal took into consideration McShane’s good previous record, there was no injury caused and the player showed immediate remorse by checking with his opponent on the field.

McShane also received a £500 fine. He will miss Castleford’s upcoming games against Wigan Warriors, Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity.
