Castleford chief executive Steve Gill would like the Tigers bid farewell to their stadium by winning a trophy.

A new stadium is on the horizon for the Tigers, and now looks likely to be built, after the Five Towns Park concept was given official approval recently.

Gill believes the Tigers are in their strongest position yet in the Super League era, and he feels that the club can make more significant progress in the years ahead.

“Finishing fourth in Super League in 2014 and fifth in 2015, we have given the club and our supporters, the appetite to be a top four side on a regular basis,” he said, according to the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

“I feel that the 2015 season has possibly been our best year to date in Super League and felt we were so close to attaining a semi-final spot.

“We have the foundations now within our club to be a top four club and kick on.

“With a new stadium on the horizon, I would like nothing more than to bring some silverware back to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle before we leave the old girl behind.
