Cas edge thriller at Wakefield

Luke Gale’s late drop-goal secured a thrilling 25-24 victory for Castleford at Wakefield on Thursday.

Wakefield led 16-0 at half-time, but the Tigers hit back after the break with Greg Eden, Grant Millington and Mike McMeeken crossing to give them an 18-16 lead.

David Fifita’s try edged Wakefield back in front, but Jake Webster brought the visitors level before Gale’s kick won the game.

Daryl Powell’s side are now ten points clear at the top of the table, with only two games left to play before the Super 8s get underway.

Wakefield remain fifth in the standings, one point behind fourth-placed Hull.
