Carl Forster set for Rochdale exit

Rochdale player-coach Carl Forster was a noticeable absentee from their defeat at Bradford on Sunday.

Forster, 26, only took charge in the off-season, replacing Alan Kilshaw having left Whitehaven, but has overseen just one victory in nine games before the Bulls clash.

It is understood that other players were aware of his absence on Thursday, and though the club issued a vague statement on Sunday, it was hastily withdrawn soon after.

Having relied upon dual-registration players from Warrington in recent seasons, that partnership is believed to have waned this season, with the Wolves instead sending players out on loan to other Championship clubs, indicating all was not well.

However, Luis Johnson and Danny Walker both featured for the Hornets at Odsal.

While Forster’s departure is yet to be confirmed, Matt Calland is already being linked with taking over at the Crown Oil Arena.
