New Zealand forward Joe Tapine has signed a new four-year deal with Canberra, keeping him at the Raiders until the end of the 2023 season.

The 24-year-old back-rower was already under contract with Canberra until the end of 2019, but the club were keen to offer him an extended deal.

Tapine played 20 games for Newcastle Knights, before moving to Canberra in 2016, where he has made over 60 appearances.

On his contract extension, Tapine said: “Moving to the Raiders has been the best decision for my footy and I know by extending my time here in Canberra I can continue to become a better player.

“I’m confident in the group of players and coaches we have that we can keep improving and be a better and more consistent team.

“My partner and I have also made a home in Canberra and we love living here.”

Tapine has earned seven caps for the Kiwis, scoring one try.
