Canberra confirm signing of George Williams

NRL side Canberra have confirmed the signing of George Williams from Wigan on a three-year deal from 2020.

Williams, 24, will link-up with former Warriors team-mates John Bateman and Ryan Sutton, as well as fellow England internationals Elliott Whitehead and Josh Hodgson.

Raiders chief executive Don Furner said: “The club’s had success in recent times in recruiting proven performers from the Super League and we believe George will fit into our system like others have.

“The club would like to wish George all the best for the remainder of the season with Wigan and we look forward to him joining us for pre-season training.”

Wigan confirmed the long speculated departure of Williams on Monday night, as well as announcing the signing of Salford half-back Jackson Hastings from next season.
