Joe Burgess is looking forward to taking on NRL champions Cronulla Sharks in the World Club Challenge with Wigan.

The winger spent last season in the NRL, playing for Sydney Roosters before moving to South Sydney.

He is hopeful that Wigan can give Cronulla a good game and provide some entertainment for the fans.

“They’re a tough side and it’ll be a good challenge for all of us,” Burgess told his club’s official website.

“It’s always good to play in those games, it’s always a real test.

“I know it wasn’t as good last year but the year before it was quite a close game and hopefully we can make it the same again.”

The Warriors lost their last World Club Challenge game, against Brisbane in 2015, in extra time.

Burgess hopes to go one better in 2017.

“I didn’t have the best of games that night but I ended up getting that late try,” he said.

“It was good to get the try and I’d love to do it again this time, but for the win.”
