Bulls directors stand down

Bradford chairman Peter Hood and director Andrew Bennett have stood down, amidst news of possible investment for the struggling Super League club.

The Bulls revealed the severity of their financial plight in March, as they asked fans to pledge £500,000 to keep the club going, ahead of the Easter derby clash with Leeds.

Although that target was met, the club still needs to raise a further £500,000 to ensure its survival, and Hood and Bennett have now left the club as largest shareholder Chris Caisley looks to introduce new investment.

Hood said: “Chris has indicated to me and also to Club CEO Ryan Duckett that he has investors waiting in the wings who are ready, willing and able to get on board, but apparently they are not prepared to do so under the present regime.

“Andrew Bennett and I have concluded that the interests of Bradford Bulls and its players, coaches and staff are best served by us making way for Mr Caisley and his cohort now, rather than awaiting an EGM at which we are bound to be out-voted.”

The pair were expected to be removed from office later this month at an extraordinary general meeting convened and orchestrated by Caisley, a former chairman of the club.
