Brook blow for Oldham

Oldham’s on-loan half-back Adam Brook is set for a spell on the sidelines with a broken wrist.

Brook, 24, was hurt in last Sunday’s win over London Skolars and will be out for six to eight weeks.

He is due to return to a fracture clinic on Friday to have the wrist set in plaster.

The Halifax man is one of several players missing for Scott Naylor ahead of Sunday’s Challenge Cup visit of Widnes.

Winger Lee Kershaw is out as parent club Wakefield don’t want him cup-tied, while Danny Bridge, Anthony Bowman and Aaron Jones-Bishop are all suspended.

Luke Nelmes is unavailable and along with Brook, Danny Grimshaw and Paul Crook are also on the treatment table.

The prospects of a few others are in the balance, including Matt Wilkinson (shoulder), Titus Gwaze (hamstring) and Jack Holmes, Dave Hewitt and Zack McComb, who are all unwell and struggling to shake off a bug.
Naylor said: “Hopefully, things will be brighter by weekend. I expect a few of the lads back then and we’ll take a look at them and assess how they are.”
