Brilliant Batley set new targets

Batley head coach John kear says the Bulldogs are setting new goals after their impressive start to the 2016 season.

Batley have lost just once after eight rounds and are in second position on the ladder, on equal points with first-placed Leigh.

“We set a target for the first game of the season, then the first quarter, then Easter,” Kear said.

“Now we’re aiming for the second quarter. We will have played everybody then so we’ll know where we’re at as a team.”

The Bulldogs take on Oldham this afternoon. Batley enjoyed a dramatic 24-23 home win over Whitehaven last time out.

“Easter was all about showing the will and mental toughness rather than skill and the players have handled it well,” Kear said.

“Oldham will pose us a real threat without doubt.

Centre Danny Cowling is Batley’s only injury concern after picking up a knock in the Good Friday win at Dewsbury.
