Brett Seymour to coach Whitehaven

Former Hull FC and Cronulla Sharks half-back Brett Seymour will take temporary charge of Whitehaven.

This follows Steve Deakin’s resignation as coach for family reasons.

A club statement said:  “We’d like to thank Steve for the outstanding level of commitment he has given preseason.”

Seymour, 30, joined Haven in 2014 after his release by Castleford Tigers.

Deakin had returned to Cumbria following a successful spell as coach of Catalans Dragons reserve side St Esteve XIII
