England rugby league head coach Wayne Bennett has signed a contract extension at Brisbane Broncos to keep him at the club until the end of 2019.

Bennett is to take charge of the England international side until the end of the 2017 World Cup before passing on the reigns, but the Australian has been quick to sort out his club future with the Broncos.

Bennett has been at the Broncos in his current spell since the end of 2014, and this contract extension will keep Bennett working at the Broncos up until his 70th birthday.

The 66 year-old has already expressed his happiness at being able to get this contract signed as quickly as possible, which will benefit the Broncos.

“I thought it was important we got it sorted and the club did too,” Bennett told Brisbane’s official website.

“That way everyone knows where they are going. There are always players going on and coming off contract. So everybody knows what is going on now.
