Beaumont to ignore salary cap as Leigh plan four more signings

Leigh Centurions head of rugby Derek Beaumont has revealed that the club has four new signings lined up for next season, as their bid to achieve Super League status goes on.

The Manchester Evening News also reports that Beaumont plans to ignore salary cap restrictions and will spend big to make sure his club progresses.

Beaumont is reported as having sought advice from a leading QC regarding the salary cap, which he apparently views as a restraint of trade.

“People will see our commitment when the signings are revealed,” Beaumont told MEN Sport.

“We will get back into Super League. It is simply my job to put together the best team that is capable of taking us there and this is what we are doing.”
