Bailey wary of Broncos threat

Gold Coast prop Luke Bailey admits getting the better of the in-form Brisbane forwards on Friday won’t be easy.

The Titans travel to Suncorp Stadium with County Origin representatives Greg Bird and Luke Douglas available, but Bailey is wary of the battle up front.

“They’re very good – watching Benny Hannant, he’s probably the stand-out front rower of the year so far and especially in the Anzac game he was quite strong,’’ said Bailey.

“I’m really looking forward to matching up against him and then you’ve got Petro, (Josh) Maguire and (Sam) Thaiday and all those fellas – it’s a great pack.

“I really fancy our pack and hopefully we can start stringing a few win together and show them what we’ve got.’’

The shock win over Manly posted in the last round has been a sense of great relief to the Titans, who before that had just one win to their name.

“It was good to soak up the feeling for a couple of weeks,’’ added Bailey.

“Normally you’ve got to forget about it and worry about the opposition the week after but it was good to actually enjoy the win and exaggerate the feeling over a two week period.

“I think self belief, a few of the boys were probably lacking a bit. We’ve had a good talk over the last couple of weeks and obviously to beat Manly down there at Brookvale, whoever they are fielding it’s always a tough gig to go down there and get the two points.

“Everyone’s feeling pretty confident and I think all the boys realise we can play to our potential. We didn’t play out of our skin, just played according to our game plan so that’s what we’ve got to do.”

To beat the Broncos the Titans must however overcome the loss of experienced back-rower Ashley Harrison, who will miss the match through suspension.
