New Warrington prop Ryan Bailey is very pleased with the competition for places in Tony Smith’s Wolves squad.

As well as Bailey, who arrived from Castleford in the close season, the likes of Kurt Gidley, Tom Lineham, Jordan Cox, Jack Hughes and Benjamin Julien are set to make their bows for Wire in the preseason friendly against Widnes on Sunday.

“Everybody’s working hard individually and everyone’s pushing each other as well,” Bailey told the Warrington Guardian.

“Although there’s a lot of new players it felt really tight from the first week I got here, as if everyone had been here for ages.

“All the senior players are helping the young guys and all the young guys are pushing the senior players, so it’s a good mixture.

“Everyone’s fighting for a spot so everyone’s on their toes and it’s going to be a good competitive year on and off the field for all the players.”
