Ayshord cleared of virus

Despite being cleared of a virus, doubt still remains about the fitness of Wests Tigers centre Blake Ayshford ahead of Friday’s semi-final with Canberra.

Tigers medical staff say they will continue to monitor Ayshford after tests revealed that he is not suffering from glandular fever.

Tigers coach Tim Sheens has named Ayshford in the starting line-up but a decision is still yet to be made whether or not he will be fit to play.

“Blake is currently on antibiotics but we’ll have to wait and see how he responds to that,” said Wests Tigers Assistant Coach Royce Simmons.

“He is on our wish list and we hope he plays but we’ll leave our decision for later this week once we’ve heard from our medical staff.”
