Andy Yates remains at Hunslet Hawks

Hunslet Hawks have signed Andy Yates on a one year extension, keeping him at the club until the end of 2013.

Yates has been a consistent performer for the Hawks since joining the south Leeds side at the start of 2011.

Director of rugby Darren Williams was full of praise for the 22-year old.

He said: “In my opinion Andy would get a start at any Championship club and his improvements this year have been for all to see.

“He’s got a great engine on him and his work rate is second to none. He regularly earns penalties with his upright running style and it’s a massive coup for the club to be able to retain his services.

“We know for sure that Andy was courted by several of our Championship rivals but he’s decided he’s happy in our environment and he will continue to develop under head coach Barry Eaton.”
