Castleford star Luke Gale hopes to return from injury for their Super 8s clash against Catalans in September.

The Tigers face the Dragons on Saturday, September 1, at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Gale suffered a fractured kneecap in Castleford’s game against Wakefield Trinity in April and hasn’t played since.

On his potential return in two weeks, the current Man of Steel winner told Sky Sports: “I’m hoping to be back for the Catalans game.

“It’s been a long and drawn-out process, probably a couple of weeks later than we had hoped for but it’s slowly getting there and I’m getting join in with the boys now and get back amongst it.

“It has been massively disappointing to be sat on the sidelines, especially with the season we had at Castleford last year and just missing out at the Grand Final last year, you want to go that one step better.

“Obviously sat on the sidelines, I haven’t been able to help the boys but I’ve got the chance to make up for lost time over these next few games.”
