Salford head coach Paul Rowley believes his side could be a serious threat if they are to make the play-offs at the end of the season.

The Red Devils claimed sixth spot from Castleford on Saturday following their impressive 46-14 victory over Catalans in Perpignan.

Salford ran in eight tries over the fourth-placed Dragons, including a brace for England World Cup hopeful Kallum Watkins.

There’s a chance for Salford, Leeds or Castleford to yet claim the fourth spot from Catalans with three games left of the regular season.

High in confidence following back-to-back wins over play-off rivals Huddersfield and Catalans, Rowley’s men will fancy their chances to claim wins from all of their remaining games. They are scheduled to host Hull and Warrington, with a trip to Castleford in between.

Paul Rowley: ‘We’re a confident team’

Rowley said: “If we can continue to play this way why can’t we be a serious threat in the play-offs?

“We’re a confident team and you gain confidence through good practice and that’s what we’re doing.

“It’s a tough place to come to and they are a tough team to play against regardless of the venue. They are really well coached and they’ve got some great players.

“We’ve got the utmost respect for them. We knew nothing but a good performance would get something out of this game for us.

“We want to win every little battle that we take part in and full credit to the lads today. It was tremendously hot and they fought to the very end even when the game was won.”

Salford, Castleford and Leeds have all claimed 12 wins so far this season, while the Rhinos sit one place above with a draw as well for 25 points.
