London Broncos have confirmed that hooker Andy Ackers has signed a contract extension which should see him stay at the club until the end of the 2018 season.

The former Swinton Lions man has impressed London coach Andrew Henderson, after signing for the Broncos at the end of the 2015 season.

“Ackers has really impressed in his first season with the Broncos,” Henderson told his club’s official website.

“He’s continually improving as a player and has been a strong performer on a match day. The number of appearances he has made reflects that.

“Building an honest, humble, and strong, united group who inspire our youngsters and rugby league down south is something we’ve been concentrating a lot of our efforts on this season.

“Ackers has been fantastic in buying into this and representing these values. He’s exactly the type of player and person to take this great club in the direction we want it to head in.”

Ackers himself now feels at home with the Broncos in the capital city.

“I’m really happy to be staying on with the club. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far, and it’s fantastic to be offered the chance to keep doing the work we’re doing.

“Obviously we’ve had a strong start to the season in 2016, but we’ve definitely worked hard for it.

“We’d like to continue to put in the hard yards and only improve further from here, and I’m really pleased I’ll be around for that.

“It’s a really solid group of boys, and a club I’m very proud to be a part of.”
