Leeds injury problems grow

Leeds forward Adam Cuthbertson has suffered a bicep tear while Mitch Achurch picked up an ankle injury in last night’s 14-10 defeat to Salford.

Cuthbertson is unlikely to play for the Rhinos against Hull FC on Friday, after his training mishap, joining Joel Moon and Tom Briscoe on the sidelines.

Leeds coach Brian McDermott is unsure on how long the Australian will be out for.

“It’s one of those where it’s just painful, I’m not sure if it’s functionally going to stop him doing too much it’s just very, very painful,” he said.

“I ‘m not sure he’ll be featuring next week but I don’t think it’s a long-term injury.”

Achurch is also under a cloud after being replaced in the second half against the Red Devils. The back-rower left the AJ Bell Stadium with his ankle in a boot.

Ryan Hall was unavailable for the Salford match with Liam Sutcliffe selected in the centres.

McDermott said second-rower Brett Delaney could be back to take on the Airlie Birds, but he remains far from optimistic.

“Delaney’s maybe a chance,” he said.
