Weyman hurting after Hull derby defeat

Hull KR prop Mick Weyman feels that his team owe the fans a good performance against Catalan Dragons this weekend.

The Robins produced an abject display against Hull FC last week, losing 28-0. That was the first time Rovers had been nilled in a derby for 28 years.

“We owe it to our fans to have a really big game,” Weyman told the Hull Daily Mail.

“It’s the last home game of the season. We’ve been outside the top eight all year and we’ll finish on a good note. This season has really hurt us. All the players are embarrassed.

“We have to put everything behind us now and look forward to the Catalan game and put on a big performance for our fans. It’s going to be hard walking around the city until we play them again.”

Weyman also admitted that inconsistency within games had cost Rovers too many Super League points this season.

“It’s disappointing for everyone involved,” he added.

“We’ve let too many games slip away from us this year. It’s just not good enough and the only way out of it is to pull together and keep going.”
