Huddersfield forward Jacob Fairbank has been ruled out of Batley’s Championship Grand Final against Sheffield with a shoulder injury.

Fairbank, 23, dislocated his shoulder in the Bulldogs’ gripping 21-20 play-off victory at Featherstone last weekend.

Giants team-mates Anthony Mullally and Josh Johnson have been made available on dual-registration for the Grand Final, which takes place at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson told the Huddersfield Examiner: “Bobby will undergo surgery at the end of the week, which is obviously a blow to him.

“But at least he did the injury at the end of the year, rather than at the beginning, which would have meant he’d have missed a fair amount of the season.

“We have made Anthony and Josh available for John Kear, if he needs them.”

Fairbank has played for four clubs this season, following spells on loan at Bradford and London.
