Doncaster full-back Mick Butterfield has been named the Premier Sports Player of the Week after an outstanding performance in his side’s shock 26-12 win at Batley Bulldogs – a display that also earned Doncaster the Performance of the Week award.

As with last week, the points awarded towards the end of season Championship Player of the Year award will not be finalised until the full round of fixtures is played.

Every week each coach in the Championship and Championship One is contacted to help compile the Premier Sports awards.

Doncaster full-back Mick Butterfield’s performance against Batley Bulldogs on Sunday played a key role in a crucial win, according to coach Tony Miller.

Miller said: “Mick brought the ball back extremely well every time he carried it.

“That got us onto the front and meant we always had a good start to our set of six.

“He constantly broke the line, was brave in taking the ball on the full regularly, and I just thought he was outstanding.”
