Holdsworth absence due to family bereavement

Phil Veivers has confirmed that Daniel Holdsworth has suffered from a family bereavement.

Holdsworth was an unexpected absentee from the Salford side that lost to Castleford 34-30 on Sunday.

However Veivers was in no mood to discuss the matter, especially after seeing his side throw away an eight point lead in the dying moments of the match at the Probiz Coliseum.

Danny Orr and Craig Huby’s tries inside the final three minutes sent the Salford crowd home devastated after shock wins over Huddersfield and Catalan in recent weeks.

Holdsworth has been in impressive form for the City Reds this season, appearing in all of Salford’s Super League matches up until Sunday.

He has scored six tries and kicked 47 goals this season.
