Winger Ainscough returns to Widnes

Wigan winger Shaun Ainscough has re-joined Widnes on a dual-registration contract.

Ainscough scored four tries in three appearances for the Vikings earlier this season before making a loan move to Castleford.

He made seven appearances for the Tigers before being recalled by the Warriors, and he made his first start of the season for Michael Maguire’s side in last week’s home defeat to Harlequins.

Maguire said: “We are grateful that Shaun has the  chance to re-join Widnes Vikings. The deal worked well for both parties earlier in the season and we are pleased the opportunity is available again for Shaun to work under Paul Cullen and play Championship Rugby League.”

The dual-registration deal means Ainscough can play for both Wigan and Widnes at any time during the season.

The Vikings have sealed a similar deal with prop Ben Davies, who has recently been on a three month loan deal at the Stobart Stadium. Warriors back-rower Liam Farrell has also been on a dual-registration deal with the Vikings for the 2010 campaign.
