6th February 2020, Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington, England; Betfred Super League, Warrington Wolves v Saint Helens : Josh Charnley (5) of Warrington Wolves celebrates his try with team mates

Warrington coach Steve Price says the target is consistency after they registered an impressive 19-0 win over St Helens in their first home game of the season.

They followed up their efforts in defeat to Wigan in round one with a fine display at the Halliwell Jones Stadium against last season’s runaway champions.

Price said: “It’s always pleasing when you put solid performances like that together. I thought there were some good signs last week, it’s very encouraging.

“The most pleasing thing is to keep a quality team to zero points, I thought the energy we displayed across the line and the amount of effort was first class.

“We played some rugby too. We played fairly direct with a bit of ball movement.

“Having said that, it’s round two so early days and we’re not getting carried away with ourselves. There is still a lot of hard work to do. We want to be a consistent team this year, that’s our challenge.”

The Wolves won without co-captains Chris Hill (suspended) and Jack Hughes (injured), while marquee signing Gareth Widdop was alongside Price in the coaches box for most of the game.

Widdop is in contention to make his debut away at Wakefield next week.
