Newcastle have signed Kurt Mann on a three-year contract from St George Illawarra.

Mann can cover hooker, full-back, centre, half-back and even loose forward. He has signed with the Knights with a view of further development as a hooker.

The 25-year-old spent time at Newcastle during his junior days, before making his NRL debut for Melbourne Storm back in 2014. He has 90 first-grade appearances to date.

On signing Mann, Newcastle coach Nathan Brown commented: “We identified Kurt as a player of interest quite some time ago.

“We believe Kurt has the potential to become a hooker and his ability to play a range of positions is an added bonus in today’s game.

“Kurt has expressed a desire to secure a regular position and he’ll be given every opportunity to do that.”

On his move to the Knights, Mann said: “I’m really excited to return to the club.

“It all began for me in Newy. I left Queensland as a young kid and was fortunate enough to play SG Ball and 20s for the Knights.

“It’s a homecoming of sorts. I can’t wait to meet everyone and get to work.”
