Women’s Super League double-header postponed

The two Women’s Super League fixtures scheduled to take place this afternoon at Wakefield’s Mobile Rocket Stadium were postponed, meaning just one game from the latest round of action could take place.

The RFL confirmed that Wakefield against York and Castleford versus Leeds were both called off as it had “not been possible to arrange the necessary level of medical cover for the matches”.

It was also announced earlier this week that St Helens’ clash with Wigan had been postponed after one of Saints’ Challenge Cup final-winning squad tested positive for COVID-19.

It forced five players within Derek Hardman’s squad to self-isolate after Test and Trace analysis was carried out following their 34-6 victory over York at Leigh Sports Village.

It is hoped that the three postponed fixtures will be rearranged next month.

In the weekend’s only game, Warrington triumphed 44-8 over Huddersfield at Victoria Park to pick up their first ever Super League win.
