Wigan have announced that forward Ramon Silva has joined French Championship outfit Toulouse Olympique on a season-long loan.

Silva, 21, has made 11 appearances with London Broncos on loan in 2023. He has also had spells with Widnes and North Wales Crusaders.

In 2022, Silva was a regular in the Wigan reserves side that lifted the reserves Grand Final trophy.

Wigan’s transition coach, John Duffy said: “This is a further opportunity for Ramon to continue his development playing week in, week out in a full time environment as well as the new culture that comes with playing in France.

“A huge thank you to Mick Eccles at London for all the hard work he has put in helping Ramon with the past few months. We look forward to observing Ramon further over the remainder of the 2023 season.”

He is available to make his Toulouse debut this Saturday, June 3, against Halifax in Round 13 of the Championship season.

The Brazilian-born forward previously spent three seasons within London Broncos’ academy, playing alongside current Wigan team-mate Kai Pearce-Paul.

He joined Wigan on a two-year deal ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Ramon Silva on French opportunity

“I am very happy to come to Toulouse,” Silva said.

“But above all, I’m looking forward to playing with the team and being able to help them achieve the goals. This is a very good opportunity for me.”

Toulouse president Bernard Sarrazain added: “We would like to thank Wigan’s management for providing us with a player like Ramon.

“This again shows the good relationship we have with the Warriors. This young pillar in full learning arrives with a view to strengthening to compensate for absences due to current injuries.

“I can’t wait to see Ramon bring all his power to our forwards.”

Wigan youngster Harvie Hill had previously enjoyed a short loan spell with Sylvain Houles’ side before being recalled by his parent club.
