Seven bouncers charged over Joe Sharratt assault

Seven bouncers have been charged following an assault on St Helens academy player Joe Sharratt.

The 18-year-old suffered a serious head injury during the incident, which happened outside Manchester’s Factory 251 nightclub on December 2.

Two of the door staff have been charged with grievous bodily harm, while all seven face one count of affray.

They have been bailed to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 23.

Gareth Carr, 20, and Amjad Yasin, 27, have been charged with assault at affay.

Lee Clark, 41; Imran Ilyas, 40; Mohammed Saleem, 21; Mohammed Abdullah, 30; Javad Bolagh, 23; also face affray charges.

Promising rugby league player Sharratt, who played for Lancashire Academy against the Australian Schoolboys just hours before the assault, was taken to hospital after being injured.

Sharratt has now returned to light training with the Saints.
