Phil Joseph is available for selection after completing a two-match suspension but Carl Sneyd (tonsils) and Tommy Grundy (ankle) are not expected to feature in Sunday’s Co-operative Championship One clash.

However, Swinton coach Paul Smith expects to be boosted by the return of Graham Holroyd and Dave Hull.

Smith said: “We’ve got better in every game we’ve played and we’ve built up nicely to this point ahead of the start of the league season.”

Oldham pair Mick Fogerty and Danny Whitmore face late fitness tests after both suffered injuries against Sheffield on Monday night.

Roughyeds coach Tony Benson said: “The idea was to get some cohesion and understanding as a team by the time we got here and I think we’ve exceeded that expectation so far.

“Our defence is pretty good structurally and we’ve improved vastly with our attack too. There’s still a lot of work for us to do though.

“The exciting thing is that as a group we’re identifying these areas, putting the work in and getting results.”

He added: “I’ve seen a few games of Swinton’s and they look very strong. They’ve spent some serious money and can put a strong team up.”
