Castleford’s Joe Arundel has signed a four-year contract with Hull FC for 2013.

The 20-year old made his debut for the Tigers at 16 in 2008, after having progressed through the Tigers academy.

He has since made 44 first team appearances, scoring 16 tries for the Tigers.

He is currently recovering from a shoulder injury, but is expected to see out his time with Castleford on the field before the season ends.

Castleford chief executive Richard Wright said: “Joe will leave the club at the end of the season with nothing less than our best wishes for the future.

“It is disappointing that Joe will no longer be playing for us next season. We did table an offer we felt represented his value which was rejected. We have been outbid on this occasion by a club with much bigger resources at present and we are not in a position to over pay.”

The compensation package for Arundel has been undisclosed and reassured supporters that there is more good news to come.

He said: “I am satisfied by the level of compensation we will receive through Joe’s departure.

“Tigers fans are assured that extremely positive news regarding the signings of two experienced centres of high caliber will be announced once the time is right on the behalf of the players involved.”
