A hat-trick from Ryan Hall inspired a huge 40-0 derby win for Hull KR as the Robins thumped rivals Hull FC in their own back yard.

The Robins were 14-0 to the good at the break thanks to first half tries from Hall and Tom Opacic as well as three goals from Lachlan Coote.

Things went from bad to worse for Hull FC in the second half as the Robins scored 26 unanswered points to secure a big derby victory in front of almost 21,000 at the MKM Stadium.

How it happened

The Robins opened the scoring in the 10th minute with Hall’s first thanks to a trademark Jordan Abdull chip kick.

The visitors got their second through off-season recruit Tom Opacic after Jamie Shaul failed to deal with a towering Jordan Abdull bomb that came down with snow on it.

Scotland international Coote added a penalty goal on the half hour mark which saw the Robins lead 14-0.

Hull FC came back into the game with 10 minutes of the first half remaining, but failed to capitalise on Hull KR forward James Batchelor being sent to the sin bin. He was shown a yellow card for a hip drop tackle on Jake Clifford, with the FC half-back leaving the field.

Hull KR were 14-0 ahead at the break.

All Hull KR in the second half

It was all KR in the second half. Batchelor made up for his sin-binning with a try in the 49th minute.

Hull KR scored three tries within 10 minutes in the third quarter thanks to Coote, Hall and Mikey Lewis.

England international Hall completed his hat-trick with seven minutes remaining as Hull KR secured their biggest-ever derby win over Hull FC thanks to a 40-0 scoreline.
