Dallimore staying with Scorpions

South Wales captain Neil Dallimore has said that he is not leaving the club despite erroneous reports in local media that he is re-joining his former club Llanharan RFC.

The 31-year old forward also played for Caerphilly and Bedwas before switching to League in December 2009 ready for the start of Scorpions’ inaugural season.

Dallimore said: “I was very hurt when I heard that a story like this had been released. I haven’t signed any paperwork with Llanharan or any other club.

“Llanharan did contact me a couple of weeks ago and offered me a contract to play there next season but I turned them down. They were fairly persistent.

“I am staying in Rugby League and I hope to finish my playing career with South Wales Scorpions. I am club captain and I am here for as long as the club wants me. I hope to enter Rugby League coaching when I retire from playing. I love the game and I wish I’d taken it up earlier in my career.”

The Scorpions have made contact with Llanharan RFC who say that the press release was issued in error. It was taken off their website as soon as the miscommunication was discovered but it still made some local media. Their club representative has apologised to the Scorpions for any inconvenience caused.
