Sheffield have signed centre or back-rower Chris Ball on a one-year contract. Ball came through the academy at London Broncos and makes the switch to the Eagles while studying at Coventry University.

Ball said: “I am really excited for the new season with the Eagles. I am confident in my ability that I’ll be able to get game-time this year.”

Ellis Gillam is the latest player to commit to Whitehaven for the 2021 season. The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Warrington and has scored eight tries in 37 appearances for the Cumbrian club.

Gillam said: “My fourth season at Whitehaven and I’m looking forward to getting back into things with the lads and the new additions. I think the new guys will fit in within weeks with the tight group that we are. We go into next season with more confidence knowing we can do well against the more experienced teams.”
