Hull KR back-rower James Batchelor has produced one of the assists of the season with a no-look flick pass for team-mate Ethan Ryan to score against Warrington.

The effort opened the scoring inside the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with third choice kicker Mikey Lewis kicking the conversion for a 6-0 lead.

Ryan, 27, was named at full-back ahead of the game with Lachlan Coote currently sidelined through a hamstring injury. With no Jordan Abdull or Rowan Milnes, Jez Litten partners Lewis in the halves.

Fellow back-rower Kane Linnett then extended the visitor’s lead to 12-0, with Lewis finding the Scotland international with a short pass close to the line.

With Warrington struggling in attack, Matt Dufty was introduced to the action from the bench for Josh Thewlis, who was given the nod to start over the Australian.

The 27-year-old got straight into action and almost helped the Wire score their first on the left edge. And just a few plays later, NRL import Josh McGuire scored his first try of the season, grounding a grubber kick from Danny Walker from nine.

Hull KR currently lead 12-6 over the Super League leaders.
